Children seen running to safety after 15-year-old shot nearby

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday evening in Northeast Philadelphia.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. in the 3000 block of Nesper Street.

Investigators said the teenager was found near a parked car, with 11 spent shell casings recovered at the scene.

Police said the teen was shot in the abdomen and shoulder. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Video obtained by Action News showed several children running to safety as the shots were fired nearby.

According to authorities, the suspect was wearing a full mask and a dark-colored sweatshirt with white lettering on the back.

A BB gun was also reportedly found at the scene.

Officials have not released details about what led up to the shooting, and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.
