Jury reaches verdict in rapper Lil Durk's murder-for-hire trial in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES -- After three days of deliberations, a jury in Los Angeles has reached a verdict in the trial of rapper Lil Durk and two other co-defendants, accused of killing a man in an ambush shooting near the Beverly Center four years ago.
The verdict is expected to be read aloud in court Friday afternoon.
During the trial, prosecutors told jurors that Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, set in motion a plan to stalk, hunt and kill Tyquian Bowman, an Atlanta rapper known as Quando Rondo.
According to prosecutors, the alleged plot resulted in the death of Bowman's cousin, who was shot in broad daylight on Aug. 19, 2022.
Banks, 33, pleaded not guilty through his defense team, which argued during opening statements that he had no involvement in the alleged scheme.
If convicted, Banks could face a sentence of life in federal prison.
