MAST Student named National Merit Scholar

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Congratulations to a Philadelphia student who has just been named a National Merit Scholar!

Brendan McLaughlin of MAST charter school was picked.

He's one of the 5% of students nationwide with academic excellence.

1.5 million students entered the competition; only 34,000 are being recognized.

Experts say these students represent a valuable national resource.
