Public weighs in on Philadelphia bus terminal's future location

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The public had a chance to weigh in on where Philadelphia should put the new Greyhound bus terminal.

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission held an open house at the Independence Visitor Center on Wednesday evening.

There are three options for the new bus terminal: 29th and Arch Streets near 30th Street Station, the 1500 block of Vine Street, and the 700 block of Arch Street.

"Public transportation and things like this make for safer environments, a place where people will come," said Nancy Biller of Philadelphia's Bella Vista section. "If it becomes an attractive place, it's a safe place."

The public is also invited to complete the Planning Commission's survey on options for the future bus station.

The Greyhound station on Filbert Street is scheduled to temporarily reopen in May.
