LOS ANGELES -- "Star Wars" is back on the big screen and we're celebrating with a special new episode of "On The Red Carpet," filmed on location on the set of "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu."

We're taking you inside the making of the first movie in the franchise since 2019 with the filmmakers and all-star cast.

"My earliest memories of going to the movies as a kid are Star Wars," said Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. "And getting tickets to 'Return of the Jedi' was probably like, you know, it's just a day I'll never forget."

Now playing in theaters everywhere, "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" takes place several years after "Return of the Jedi." Imperial warlords are still scattered across the galaxy, so the fledgling New Republic enlists the help of Din Djarin and his young but powerful apprentice.

The Mandalorian and Grogu embark on their most daring mission yet aided by familiar allies, facing dangerous foes and meeting new characters, including the "Star Wars" debut of Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a New Republic officer and pilot.

"Colonel Ward came up with the rebellion," Weaver told On The Red Carpet. "She would have been a fellow rebel with Princess Leia, and so that's the generation. So, also because of the strong women in 'Star Wars,' it was such a great thing to bring Colonel Ward to life."

Jon Favreau, who created the Disney+ series, "The Mandalorian," is the director of the new movie. Favreau loved watching the original "Star Wars" movies from George Lucas when he was a kid and hopes his version is true to the spirit of those earlier works.

"The stakes are high, but the characters are heroic, pure of heart, and I think that it fits the same mythic structure," Favreau said. "Of course, George set the bar really high, but we could tell stories that at least honor that world that he created."

Our new special also includes a tour of "The Mandalorian and Grogu" set and a look inside a "Star Wars" warehouse filled with incredible props from the film series. You'll also see all the excitement of the world premiere in Hollywood, a quick recap of "The Mandalorian" series on Disney+, and a closer look at the "Baby Yoda Boom" - from toys to parades and even a trip to space, Grogu has done it all!

"Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is now playing in theaters everywhere.
