Katie Gaudreau-Joyce, the sister of late hockey players Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau, has welcomed a baby boy and is honoring her family with his name.
Defense lawyers for Sean Higgins filed a motion this week with New Jersey Superior Court's Appellate Division, arguing his Miranda rights were violated during questioning after the Aug. 29, 2024, crash.
Last month, Superior Court Judge Michael Silvanio heard arguments from the state and defense, along with testimony from four New Jersey State Police troopers involved with the case.
Four New Jersey State Police troopers testified during the hours-long hearing, which included the viewing of body-camera footage and newly publicly released interviews involving Sean Higgins.
Guy Gaudreau promised his sons he would return to the ice to coach their children. "Hopefully, I can make them proud and make their kids love the game of hockey," he said.
Superior Court Judge Michael Silvanio denied two motions to suppress evidence obtained from the vehicle driven by 44-year-old Higgins of Woodstown.
