DUNDAS, MN -- A close, unlikely friendship between a preschooler and a World War II vet who were neighbors has survived one of them moving away.
Three-year-old Emmett Rychner and Erling Kindem, 89, became close friends when they lived next door to each other in Farmington, Minnesota.
Recently Emmett's family moved to a larger house, and Kindem is moving to a senior apartment.
However they're not letting 16 miles stand in the way of a friendship that already bridged an 86 year age gap.
