RADNOR TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A popular Main Line Chinese restaurant shut down for health violations has been cleared to reopen.

Two months, and $500,000 later, Yangming restaurant in Radnor is set to reopen Wednesday.

The owners and managers took Action News on a tour Tuesday showing us the extensive renovations including new floors, new electrical work, updated equipment, and - most importantly - no roaches.

Restaurant spokesperson Jeff Jubelirer says they hired a really good exterminator.

"A new extermination company that came out daily for one month and now is coming out once a week and will continue to come out once a week until we are completely 150% sure that there's not a problem," Jubelirer said.

The restaurant was closed August 21 after a customer found a roach in a meal, and then days later, a surprise inspection revealed more roaches and sewer pipes dripping on food.

Yangming had been a very popular local eatery for more than two decades and at one point was ranked among the best Chinese restaurants in the country.

Now, Yangming will begin the process of rebuilding its tainted reputation.

"Any customer that wants to see the kitchen, anytime they are welcomed to do that," manager Alan Huynh said.

The owners and managers say the reason for the roach infestation can be linked to the building's age, it's nearly 200 years old, and it's archaic infrastructure.

They say it's that's the reason, but it's not an excuse for unsanitary conditions.

"Frankly, they were not excusable. They should have been remediated. It had to do with the age of the building, the state of the building," Jubelirer said.

"We are looking forward and hope our customers will come back to our business in the future. Thank you so much," Huynh said.
