Police: Mother stabs son in Powelton apartment

POWELTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say a teenage boy was stabbed in the arm during an altercation with his mother in an apartment in Powelton.

The incident started around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of Holden Street.

Police say the 13-year-old began arguing with his mother.

That's when police say the mother stabbed the boy in the arm.

He was taken by medics to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition.

The boy's mother has been taken into custody and faces charges.

The incident is being investigated by the Special Victims Unit.
