Woman struck, killed on Roosevelt Boulevard

A 20-year-old woman has died of her injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Olney section of Philadelphia.

The accident was reported just before 5 p.m. Friday in the southbound lanes near Bingham Street.

Police say a 2012 Chevy Equinox, operated by a 56-year-old man, was traveling southbound in the inner lanes, when it went through the crossover to the outer lanes and struck the victim in the left lane.

The woman ran into the side of the vehicle and was thrown into the windshield before coming to rest on the highway, police say.

The victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center with severe head injuries.

She was pronounced dead at 12:51 p.m. on Saturday.

The vehicle did stop at the scene, police say.

No other injuries were reported.
