Apparently random shooting in Parkside leaves man critically injured

PARKSIDE (WPVI) -- A man is in critical condition after he says he was randomly shot while walking down the street in the Parkside section of Philadelphia.

It happened at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the 5100 block of Funston Street.

The victim told police he was walking with headphones on when he was hit in the chest by gunfire.

A passing motorist drove the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he stumbled into the emergency room.

He is hospitalized in critical condition.

Police are working to determine who shot the man and why.
