NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA -- Several protesters marched down Caroline Road to the FOP headquarters where a fundraiser to benefit Ryan Pownall was taking place Sunday evening.

Pownall is the police officer involved in the deadly shooting of 32-year-old David Jones on June 8 in Hunting Park.

Last month Police Commissioner Richard Ross announced that Pownall made several mistakes during the stop, including shooting Jones twice in the back as he was running away unarmed.

Pownall was suspended for 30 days following the incident with the intent to dismiss.

Ross also said that Jones did not listen to the officer's orders during the stop and was carrying a gun illegally.

On Sunday about eight people who identified themselves as part of "Black Lives Matter" marched to the FOP headquarters to protest the "I stand with Ryan" benefit being held at the lodge.

The protesters held signs and shouted into a bullhorn. They cursed at the officers who stood silently outside the lodge.

The FOP and Philadelphia Police had no comment about Sunday's fundraiser.
