Firefighters in Atlantic County battled a house fire in Egg Harbor City.

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Firefighters in Atlantic County battled a house fire in Egg Harbor City.

Fire broke out around 4:00 a.m. Sunday at a home on the 300 block of St. Louis Avenue.

Arriving firefighters quickly went to work battling the flames which caused heavy damage to the home.

Three residents were able to escape the blaze, but suffered smoke inhalation.

They were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting the family, 7 adults, 2 children, that has been displaced.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
