Fire officials in Delaware are looking for the suspects responsible for deliberately starting a fire inside a Wilmington swim club.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Fire officials in Delaware are looking for the suspects responsible for deliberately starting a fire inside a Wilmington swim club.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday at the Shellcrest Swim Club in the 900 block of Wilson Road.

Firefighters from the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company arrived at the scene and discovered equipment on fire.

Investigators say the suspects burned pool furniture around the pool deck causing an estimated $8,000 in damage.

The pool manager says the area had been decorated for a Fourth of July party.

"We had two American flags that they burned which is really sad because we decorated the day before for the fourth and all the decorations for the fourth were also burned. It was just with utter maliciousness," said Darren Schulke, manager.

As a result Saturday's party was postponed until Sunday.

Police are asking homeowners in the immediate area to review their surveillance footage for any suspicious activities during the early morning hours of July 4th.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or the State Fire Marshal's New Castle Division at 302-323-5375.
