Two brothers have been arrested for stealing sewer grates.

UPPER MERION, Pa. (WPVI) -- Upper Merion police have arrested two men in a series of sewer grate thefts.

Investigators say two brothers, Brian and John Vetrulli Jr. of Gilbertsville, pilfered a total of 13 100-pound iron storm sewer grates from parking lots, dating back to the beginning of December.

A police officer saw them drive to the back of an Acme in King of Prussia on Saturday.

He followed them and discovered they had large crow bar in the back of their truck.

Police claim the men confessed to stealing as much as $500,000 worth of grates throughout the area - more than 1,000 from Philadelphia, Limerick, Collegeville, Plymouth Meeting, Willow Grove, Abington, Bensalem, Haverford, Broomall, Upper Providence, and Montgomeryville.
