BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police say a 9-year-old child was killed and four other people in her family were hospitalized after a vehicle overturned in Burlington Township.

It happened around 8:10 Sunday night along the 2100 block of Mt. Holly Road (Route 541).

Three vehicles were involved in the crash.

Investigators say the occupants of an SUV - a 9-year-old girl, her parents, sister and cousin - were on their way to the nearby Walmart shopping center at the time.

Police say their SUV was coming across Route 541 on Cadillac Drive when witnesses say a green Toyota travelling southbound ran the red light.

The Toyota collided with the SUV, causing the SUV to overturn and strike a silver vehicle waiting at the light.

The 9-year-old, who was thrown from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at Lourdes Medical Center.

Her family members who were also in the SUV, are listed in stable condition.

A passenger from the striking Toyota suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was unharmed and was being questioned by officers.

Police continue to investigate.
