Officials say a fire forced a family from their home in the Philadelphia's Port Richmond section early Saturday morning.

PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- Officials say a fire forced a family from their home in the Philadelphia's Port Richmond section early Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. from a vacant house on the 3300 block of Amber Street.

The fire quickly spread to an adjoining home that was occupied with a family.

All the residents were able to escape safely but were displaced.

It took firefighters about a half an hour to get the flames under control.

It's still unclear on how the fire started.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
