The hunt is on for a man who stole a medical transport vehicle with two special needs patients inside.

It happened in the 1300 block of West Hunting Park Avenue at 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a 28-year-old driver was taking the patients - two men, ages 56 and 57 - to their home when he stopped at his own house to turn off the lights.

While he was in the house, a man walking down the street jumped in the van and took off.

When the suspect realized the patients were in the back, police say he dropped the patients off near 9th and Erie Streets, and left with the van.

Police found the patients a short time later. Neither was harmed.

A witness described one of the suspects as a black male, 6'0 tall, with dark skin, red and white plaid Izzard, Muslim garment on his lower body.

Police are searching for that man, as well as the stolen vehicle.

It is described as a champagne-colored 2007 Chevrolet Uplander minivan with Pennsylvania registration 40545-PD and the words 'Cohmar Transportation' written on the side.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the van is asked to contact Philadelphia Police by dialing 911.
