Person struck, killed by Amtrak train in Sharon Hill

SHARON HILL, Pa. (WPVI) -- Delaware County officials were called to the scene of a train pedestrian accident in Sharon Hill.

The accident was reported around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon near the Sharon Hill Train Station on Clifton Avenue.

A pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak Acela Express train, which was heading to Washington from Boston with 272 passengers on board.

There is no word on the victim's identity at this time.

Amtrak says the incident disrupted service from Philadelphia to Wilmington and SEPTA service on the Wilmington-Newark line was temporarily suspended while police cleared the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
