OLNEY (WPVI) -- One man is in custody after police fired a shot at an armed suspect in the Olney section of Philadelphia.

The incident started around 1:00 a.m. Sunday when 35th District officers observed a 2007 Ford Fusion disregard a stop sign at 6th and Rockland streets.

The officers lost sight of the vehicle momentarily and observed it again in the area of 5th Street and Chew Avenue.

The second officer exited the patrol vehicle and chased the man on foot to the 5600 block of North Lawrence Street.

At that location, the officer observed the suspect making a throwing motion.

The man was apprehended without further incident.

No weapon has been recovered, but police say narcotics evidence was recovered from the man.
