PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police say a 41-year-old man is recovering after a brutal beating at the hands of 2 suspects, plus a woman he'd invited into his home.
It happened before 1:30 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of East Cambria Street in Port Richmond.
Police say two men burst into the home, one armed with a gun, the other with a baseball bat, and announced a robbery.
One suspect held the gun to the victim's head, police say, and the man tried to grab the weapon.
A struggle ensued, and the other suspect beat the victim repeatedly in the head and face with the bat.
Police say a woman whom the man knew from the neighborhood and who was in the home at the time, joined the suspects in the attack, scratching the victim's face.
The suspects and the woman then fled with two video game consoles and $1000 in cash.
Medics took the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was treated for multiple injuries to the head and face.
There was no official on his condition, but police told Action News he is expected to be okay.
Police were checking the area for surveillance video and were working to develop descriptions of the suspects.
