WILMINGTON, Del. -- Police say they have recovered U.S. Sen. Chris Coons' family SUV that was stolen from his Delaware home Thursday morning.

Wilmington police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Janvier tells The Associated Press in an email that the black Ford Explorer with at least one Coons sticker on the back was taken Thursday morning after it was left running with the keys in the ignition.

The vehicle was later recovered at 6th Street and Cleveland Avenue in Wilmington.

Senator Chris Coons' SUV was recovered after being stolen from his Delaware home.

Initial reports are that the suspects, possibly juveniles, got out of Coons' SUV, stole another vehicle and then fled. They remain at large.

Officials say the car appeared to be intact, except for the removal of the 'Chris Coons for Senate' sticker that was on the rear window.

Coons spokesman Sean Coit tells The AP that the senator and his family are OK. He says Coons had already left for the day when the theft took place.
