Police shot one man and they're still looking for another after a confrontation this morning in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.

WYNNEFIELD (WPVI) -- A confrontation between a suspect and police led to gunfire in Philadelphia's Wynnefield section.

It happened around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday on the 5400 block of Hazelhurst Street.

Sources tell Action News police received a call of two men, at least one armed with a gun.

According to police, when officers arrived to the scene one of the suspects pointed his weapon at them, and then both men started running.

Police chased the man with the gun towards train tracks nearby.

Police fired on the gunman, hitting him three times.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and is currently listed in stable condition.

Officers are continuing to search for the second suspect.

Police will be doing ballistic tests on the gun they recovered from the suspect.

Action News is told he is known to the police with multiple prior arrests.
