52 seniors from the University of Connecticut scrambled to get out of a burning bus as smoke filled the cabin for a second time Saturday.

The first time, the bus stopped.

The driver apparently fixed the problem and the bus company told the driver to keep going.

Just a short time later, a noise was heard.

"We heard a really loud bang, and the bus driver actually laughed when he heard that, and kept driving for a little while longer," student Ashley Vollmer said.

He was still driving when, Vollemer said, the smoke got really thick.

Students began escaping when the back of the bus exploded into flames.

The scary moments were captured on cell phones.

Investigators still don't know what sparked the fire.

No one was injured.

The students were in a caravan of four buses, heading to Boston for a senior lunch cruise.

They never made it to the ship.

The university sent a bus to bring them back home.
