Police are investigating a deadly shooting in New Castle, Delaware.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Authorities have identified the man who they was was fatally shot inside an apartment complex in New Castle, Delaware.

The victim is identified as 30-year-old Kelvin Powers.

Officers were called before 7:00 a.m. Wednesday to the William Penn Village Apartments in the unit block of Amstel Drive.

Investigators say an unknown suspect forced his way into the apartment and shot Powers.

Earlier reports indicated the victim had been stabbed, but police now say the man had been shot.

Powers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking into reports that a man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing was seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

No word on a motive.
