WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Hours after Wilmington's new police chief officially took over, police are already investigating another shooting.

The shooting happened around 6:00 Thursday night on the 1000 block of North Madison Street.

Authorities say a man in his 20s was shot in the chest.

A woman, who is 8-months pregnant, managed to escape the gunfire but was said to be very shaken up.

Several shell casings were found in the area but no arrests have been made.

The shooting comes the same day that the city's interim police chief Bobby Cummings was sworn in to take on the position permanently.
