Police officers pursed and arrested a wrong-way driver suspected of DUI in South Philadelphia early Monday morning.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA -- Police officers pursed and arrested a wrong-way driver suspected of DUI in South Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. when an officer approached a vehicle because he thought the man inside had a medical condition.

The Officer tapped on the window but the driver did not respond. The officer then broke the window and woke the man up.

Police say the driver yelled an expletive and took off, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Columbus Boulevard.

The driver blew a tire and reportedly drove over the Platt Bridge then back again before crashing through a fence.

The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
