Action News anchorwoman Monica Malpass reports from Las Vegas as the countdown continues to the final presidential debate of 2016.

LAS VEGAS (WPVI) -- By Wednesday morning both candidates had arrived in Las Vegas ahead of the last debate of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Hillary Clinton landed Tuesday night and spent the day on Wednesday prepping with her advisors.

Donald Trump also landed at McCarron International Airport and was spending Wednesday both campaigning and preparing.

Students here at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, where the debate is being held, were given the day off to ease vehicle and foot traffic on campus.

And security has been ramped up to triple what it was on Tuesday.

We went through three levels of security Wednesday morning to get into the debate site.

Homeland Security used bomb sniffing dogs and handheld metal detectors to sweep our car.

Once we cleared the perimeter, we went through airport-style metal detectors for our camera equipment and ourselves.

And finally, Secret Service agents checked us as we entered the building.
