2 winning $1 million Powerball tickets sold in Delaware Valley

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There are two lucky winners from our area from last week's Powerball drawing.

The Pennsylvania Lottery Commission says one of the winning tickets from the January 17th drawing was sold at the Double-O-Seven convenience store on 7th Street in South Philadelphia.

The other was sold at the Giant Food Store on Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County.

Each winning ticket correctly matched all five white balls, 5-16-23-27-36, but not the red Powerball 09, to win individual prizes of $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding.

Lottery officials said they will not be able to confirm the identity of either winner until each prize is claimed and each ticket is validated.

Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The retailers that sold the winning tickets will each receive a $5,000 bonus.
