CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The multi-million dollar transformation of Dilworth Plaza into a public park will be complete in a matter of weeks.

The plaza outside Philadelphia's City Hall has been under construction since January 2012.

On Tuesday, the CEO of the Center City District announced that the new green space will open to the public on September 4th.

A 3-day celebration will follow the initial ribbon cutting.

Dilworth Park will feature a cafe with outdoor seating, moveable chairs, tables and benches, an ice rink in the winter and new entrances to SEPTA's trains and trolleys.
