There's new testing being done to help keep football players safe.

Virginia Tech University is testing a variety of helmets to see how they can take a hit.

Researchers tested three new helmets on the market, two from SG, one from Riddell.

The SG helmets are lighter, but the shell contains Kevlar.

The Riddell actually flexes.

Turns out, these new designs are all safer than the old ones.

Virginia Tech hopes high schools keep tabs on their research, and allow young players to wear only the safest helmet.
