Former Eagles player Brian Westbrook led a chant that made Gov. Chris Christie smile.

ATLANTIC CITY (WPVI) -- Governor Chris Christie was on hand Wednesday for the grand opening ceremony of the new Bass Pro Shop Atlantic City, as were some Philadelphia Eagles fans.

As Christie was about to speak, an E-A-G-L-E-S chant broke out.

This prompted the New Jersey governor to call up former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook.

"Where's Brian? Get up here, Brian. I love Brian Westbrook, what are you talking about?" Christie said.

Once Westbrook, who played nine seasons with the Birds, arrived the podium, he took the mic.

"The Eagles fans are here. Let's give the governor a chant. Say it with me," Westbrook said.

Then Westbrook led the crowd in a loud Eagles chant.

Christie smiled, laughed, and then hugged Westbrook.

"Thank you everybody. Thank you to Jersey. Thank you Eagles fans," Christie said.

Eagles fans were not happy with Christie after seeing him high-five Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during a crucial December game in Philadelphia.

In January, Christie was seen embracing Jones after the Cowboys won a playoff game.

At the time, Christie explained his actions, "What I said to folks down in Philadelphia is I love passionate Eagles fans. That's great. I'm glad they're rooting hard for their team. But just because I'm governor of New Jersey doesn't mean I change who I root for."

Meanwhile, officials in Atlantic City hope Bass Pro Shops will do the trick to lure in hundreds of thousands of tourists a year.

The 85,000 square foot store is located on North Columbus Boulevard at "The Walk" shopping center.

Inside, there's a 13,000 gallon aquarium of fish species found in New Jersey waterways.

Mayor Don Guardian says he expects 750,000 people a year will visit.
