PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Philadelphia region ahead of possible severe storms.

On top of the severe weather threat, a Flood Watch is in effect as high humidity could lead to intense rainfall rates. Rainfall rates of 2-3" per hour can't be ruled out.

TODAY: The tropical air has returned with dewpoints well into the 70s and temperatures creeping into the low 90s.

We've already had downpours and storms that have prompted a few flash flood warnings. This threat continues through this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has our entire area in an enhanced risk for severe storms. This is level 3 out of 5 on the severe weather scale and means numerous severe thunderstorms are likely through this evening.

Storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts over 60 mph.

The tornado risk is elevated, which has prompted the Storm Prediction Center to issue a tornado watch.
