Police identified the two people who were killed when a car slammed into a light pole and a tree in Alloway Township, Salem County.

ALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police identified the two people who were killed when a car slammed into a light pole and a tree in Alloway Township, Salem County.

The victims are 20-year-old Frank Ecret and 17-year-old Levi Baldwin.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Quaker Neck Road near Hart Lane.

Police say, for an unknown reason, Ecret lost control of his vehicle, sending it crashing into a pole and then a tree.

The impact caused the car's engine to catch fire.

Both Ecret and Baldwin, his passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the crash.
