Until the 16-inch main underneath the median is fixed, some of the inner lanes of traffic will continue to be shut down.
Around 10 p.m, the southbound inner lanes reopened between Grant Avenue and Goodnaw Street. The inner northbound lanes remain closed.
This is something that has left drivers with the anticipation of a nightmare Tuesday morning commute to work.
"Well I ain't gonna curse but it's gonna mess it up big time. Everyone is going to have to go to the outer lanes and it's going to be really bad," said Mike Boylan of Northeast Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Water Department says there is no set timetable on when all the lanes could reopen.

On Monday evening, traffic was beginning to jam up around Grant Avenue, which neighbors say was bad enough before the inner lanes were closed.
"I had to go around and had to do an illegal U-turn up there and turn around because I know Grant is congested anyway, and it's real messed up even on a regular day. But this is no good," said Sandra Macon of Northeast Philadelphia.
