Dan Marino Sr., father of NFL great, dies at 71

MIAMI (AP) - December 7, 2008 Linda Elachko of the John N. Elachko Funeral Home in Pittsburgh said Dan Marino Sr. died Sunday in Weston, Fla. She did not immediately know the cause of his death.

Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga said in a statement that the team was saddened to learn of the death of the former quarterback's father.

Huizenga says "he was one of the team's biggest fans ever since we drafted Dan in 1983."

Services will be held Tuesday in Davie, Fla., followed by visitation Thursday and a funeral service Friday in Marino's hometown of Pittsburgh.
