San Bernardino strip mall shooting leaves 3 injured; gunman sought

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Highland Avenue and North E Street at 12:59 p.m.

Witnesses tell Eyewitness News a young man walked up to the front of a laundromat located in the strip mall, exchanged words with one of the victims, and then opened fire in several different directions. He then fled the scene on foot.

Responding San Bernardino police officers found a single victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated by fire personnel at the scene and transported to a local trauma center. The second victim fled the location in his vehicle, and drove himself to a local hospital. He also suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

A woman sitting in her SUV was hit by flying glass. She was treated at the scene and released.

A description of the gunman was not immediately released. It remains unknown if the shooting was gang-related.

San Bernardino High School, Arrowview Middle School and George Brown Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precaution following the shooting. The lockdown has since been lifted.
