LOWER MAKEFIELD TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Lower Makefield police issued a shelter in place order Sunday afternoon, due to a black bear sighting.

The police asked residents, specifically those who live in the Yardley Hunt development, to stay indoors.

Things a bit calmer now, but for a while, there was a lot of shock and awe in this neighborhood.

The exclusive video was obtained by Action News from a viewer of the bear in the Yardley Hunt Development. Some were in shock as this estimated six-foot black bear casually strolled through the neighborhood.

It's still unclear where the bear may have taken off to officials say, but the game commission is now out searching.

This was not the only bear sighting as West Goshen Township also experienced a bear last seen walking near North Five Points Road.

The game commission also called in that case. In Yardley, Kevin Hunter, who spotted the bear said, "As I come out the door, police yelling to 'get inside cause there's a bear, a bear probably about six feet long started hopping across the yard, there is a bear,'" said Hunter.

At last check, some neighbors say the bear may have been spotted a few miles from Yardley. Officials are still working to clarify an exact location.

If you should spot the bear you are asked to call 911 immediately.
