One person is hospitalized after a serious crash that slowed traffic on Route 55 in Gloucester County.

GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- One person is hospitalized after a serious crash that slowed traffic on Route 55 in Gloucester County.



It happened at 5:39 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes near Exit 48 in Elk Township.



Police tell Action News the driver of a silver Chevrolet Impala lost control and crashed.



Images from Chopper 6 HD broadcast on Action News at 6:30 a.m. showed a vehicle lying on its side in some trees adjacent to the highway.



The driver, 25 year-old Selvin Aguilar of Philadelphia, suffer minor injuries.



A passenger, identified as 30-year-old Elio Mendeza of Philadelphia, suffered serious injuries, and was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.



Mendeza is said to be stable condition.



Traffic was backed up at the scene for nearly an hour as police investigated.
