PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The holidays are here and before heading to your parties, you can create some fun, festive styles right at home that don't cost a penny.

Action News headed to the brand new House of Clarity salon in Rittenhouse to learn how to DIY your "do" for your seasonal soiree.

The idea is to give your tresses something a little extra special.

And you can add a little drama without spending a dime in less than 10 minutes with a curling iron and a can of hairspray

"Kind of really loose but also just big bouncy hair," said stylist Michael Gerahty.

For this look, you separate hair the hair into 6 sections and spray. Then you wrap instead of curling.

"You use a bigger curling iron and instead of clamping it you just go in and wrap it," said Gerahty.

Hold each section around the wand for about 30 seconds for easy, beachy waves

"You def don't want it to look too perfect it's more of that tousled, natural look," said Gerahty.

You can also take those loose waves and kick the look up a notch with a top knot.

"At the AMA's, Kendall Jenner wore it. Ciara wore it - it's everywhere," said Gerahty. "I'm going to do a half up half down top knot a twist."

Grab the hair at the temples and create a ponytail where your head curves. Split it in half and then you are going to do a loose twist.

Next, wrap it around in a knot - add a few bobby pins for security and voila!

The look takes maybe 2 minutes, and it looks like you did a lot of work.

Then, you can take that same ponytail and create a fun, chunky braid.

"And this is all going to be just a bunch of ponytails kind of connected together," said Gerahty.

You make four ponytails, splitting each top one into two pieces and then you take your next ponytail and it creates this thick braid.

Just remember, split the top one and loop the bottom one through

"Those thick braids are really in right now so this is an easy way to do it at home," said Gerahty.
