Holocaust Remembrance for the millions of Jews who were killed during World War 2

BRYN MAWR, Pa. (WPVI) -- Monday is Holocaust Remembrance Day for the millions of Jews who were killed during World War II.

Action News sports anchor Jamie Apody was one of the speakers at Barrack Academy in Bryn Mawr.

Jamie talked about her own grandparents, all of whom were Holocaust survivors.

She says that time in the concentration camps had such an impact on her relatives that the simplest of things in life took on greater value.

"Those tears were more tears of just overwhelming gratefulness, I think, that he was around to see his 7-year-old get a 100% on a spelling test," Jamie said.

Jamie says both of her grandmothers actually knew one another at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Other local families also shared how the Holocaust has left a lasting impact on their lives.
