CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A dog is being nursed back to health after being found extremely malnourished in Chester, Delaware County.
The dog is a young adult female pit bull terrier, and is mostly white with black spots.
It weighed just 20 pounds when found in the backyard of a home, and could barely stand on her own two legs.
The Delaware County SPCA says the dog, who they've named Pearl, shows undying affection for the people now caring for her.
Officials are now investigating the homeowner for neglect.
The dog is now recovering and following strict, regimented care from the SPCA.
Donations are necessary to care for Pearl. To make a donation visit https://delcospca.org/get-involved/donate/. Checks can be made out to Delco SPCA and mailed to the Delco SPCA at 555 Sandy Bank Road, in Media, PA, 19063.
