GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WPVI) -- A Michigan high school senior who is battling a rare medical condition just received a special honor.

Kate Veldink was elected homecoming queen at her school in Grand Rapids.

She has the medical condition A-T and usually uses a wheelchair.

But, with support, she was happy to walk with her homecoming king.

Veldink and her parents say their strength comes from the people who have stuck by them through tough times.
