HACKENSACK, N.J. (WPVI) -- A man acting as one of Santa's helpers in North Jersey turned up on the naughty list.

South Hackensack police stopped 66-year-old Charles R. Smith for a motor vehicle violation.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered a crack pipe, a hypodermic needle, and empty bags of drugs.

His Santa Claus costume was also in the car.

Smith had volunteered for Toys for Tots.
