NOCKAMIXON TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Emergency crews pulled a man from an icy Bucks County pond on Wednesday morning after he was trying to rescue an injured swan.



The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at Buck Drive in Nockamixon Township.



Chief Bill Shick with the Ottsville Volunteer Fire Company 4 A says a man fell through the ice of a pond that is on his property.



Shick says the man was trying to rescue an injured swan.



The man had tried to go out on an open water kayak when it overturned.

Shick along with another volunteer firefighter had to enter the water in dry suits to rescue the man.



The victim was airlifted from the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.



The swan is said to be OK.
