PHILADELPHIA -- A very special family from Wayne, Delaware County played a very special role in the Mass Saturday morning.
The Davis family brought some of the offertory gifts up to present to the Holy Father.
Jerry Davis is a former Marine. He says it's not often that his emotions get the best of him.
He adds, "grown men do cry." He's crying because, the life-long Catholic led his own family down the aisle.
It was three generations taking the once in a lifetime steps.
Davis and his wife, along with his daughter and grandson presented the gifts.
His grandson carried the wine.
Davis told Action News earlier that he would be thinking of his parents at the time of the presentation.
He lost his mother at 3-years-old and his father raised a family of ten. He was the youngest.
Davis said, "My father used to go to Mass as often as he could."
Davis worked in the Rectory for eight years. And, the Fathers were like Fathers to him.
When he told his grandson about the humbling honor about taking part of the Mass, he said, "awesome pops."
