2 women injured after vehicle crashes into utility pole in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A serious crash shut down a busy intersection in West Philadelphia Sunday morning.

Police say a Jeep crashed into a utility pole at Girard and Lancaster avenues, rolled over, and brought down power lines and SEPTA trolley wires.

Two women who were inside the Jeep were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The intersection remains closed as PECO crews work there at the scene.

Police are investigating what caused the crash.
