9-year-old girl hurt after hit-and-run in Philadelphia's Tioga section

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 9-year-old girl was hurt in a hit-and-run in Philadelphia's Tioga section.

The girl was struck around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3200 block of Germantown Avenue.

Witnesses told police that an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on Germantown Ave when the driver struck the child near Westmoreland Street, before fleeing the scene.

The girl was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to submit an anonymous tip by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477).
