NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say a bank robbery suspect tried to use a SEPTA bus as his getaway vehicle, but he did not go far.

The robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo bank located at Roosevelt Boulevard and Welsh Road in Northeast Philadelphia just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a man entered the bank and reportedly took $500.

The suspect fled and was reported heading south on Roosevelt Boulevard towards Cottman Avenue.

Moments later, police pulled over a SEPTA bus at Cottman and the Boulevard after someone fitting the description of the robbery suspect was said to be aboard.

A man was taken into custody and police positively identified him as the robbery suspect.

Authorities say they also recovered the stolen money.
