NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- The Blood Bank of Delmarva is sounding the alarm over what it says is a critical supply shortage.
The blood bank says it is operating with less than a two-day supply of blood for more than 40 hospitals across the Delmarva region.
The organization also says that donations are 30% below what hospitals require.
This comes after winter storms have canceled blood donation events, and seasonal illnesses have reduced donor availability.
People are being urged to donate blood so that hospitals can continue caring for patients.
